Bill Barringer served the Maine Township athletic program from 1959-1986. During his tenure, he was assistant coach of girls' track, boys' wrestling, and football. His coaching included wrestling and, most notably, varsity girls' and boys' cross country. Under his leadership, the cross country teams compiled 328 victories to only 80 defeats. He coached 17 Conference championship teams, five IHSA Regional champions and one IHSA Sectional championship team. For his accomplishments, Bill was inducted into the Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches' Hall of Fame. Bill was also instrumental in the development of wrestling and cross country programs at two high schools in Arizona. It is an honor to induct Mr William Barringer into the Maine West Coaches' Hall of Fame.
