Donald Talbot

Don's coaching and teaching career began in 1957 and included several different schools before coming to Maine West in 1970. He served in the basebasll, basketball and football programs in San Jose, Illinois, DePue, IL, Wyoming, Illinois and finally Lockport, IL, before fellow Hall of Famer Gaston Freeman brought Don to Maine West. While at West, Don worked as a sophomore baseball and basketball coach, where his teams won two Conference championships. His 1988 boys' basketball team had a record of 21 & 2. Don worked with the girls' basketball program from 1986 until his retirement in 1995. While with the program, the girls won six Conference championships and placed 2nd and 3rd in state. Additionally, one of Don's greatest accolades is being inducted in the Western Illinois University Hall of Fame and the Illinois Basketball Coaches' Hall of Fame. It is with great honor that we induct Don Talbot into the 2000 Maine West Coaches' Hall of Fame.
