Mike began his coaching career in the fall of 1986, but it was not until the spring of 1989 that Mike began to make his mark. In his first year with Warrior baseball, he helped guide the team to the Regional title, and four years later he helped lead them to their first conference championship in 13 seasons.The following year Mike became head coach and led the Warriors to 3 conference titles in 6 seasons compiling a record of 111 wins against 79 losses. This is the 3rd most wins in school history.

The following spring Mike switched to the north side of campus taking over the softball team and Mike kept on winning, Mike won 5 conference championships and 2 regional titles, compiling a record of 212 wins against 118 losses. Mike's 212 wins ranks first in school history. Mike’s combined 323 wins in softball and baseball are the 2nd most in school history behind only the great Al Carstens.

Mike also served as the head coach of girls tennis for 3 seasons. He led the team to an improved and impressive record of 9 and 5, including coaching a tennis player who became sectional champion.

And Mike's sixth and final sport was bowling where he had two state qualifiers.

Through a career that spanned four decades, six sports, 31 seasons and nine conference championships, Michael Murin is hereby eligible for induction into the Warrior Hall of Fame.
